Eastern Province :

This is a place of great contrasts. While it is co-host to Africa's second tallest peak, Mount Kenya, it is also where the Chalbi Desert is found.  The Eastern region has such versatile people as the Chuka (of Chuka Drummers fame), the Akamba in whose immediate neighbourhood Lime and Coal have recently been discovered and the Boran, the pastoralists-cum-sedentary farmers who populate Marsabit, a green haven literally surrounded by a desert.

The Meru, who occupy some of Kenya's most valued land for the production of world-class coffee and tea, grow khat (miraa), a much-sought-after mild stimulant herb chewed by millions in the Horn of Africa region and their Diaspora in far-flung places the world over. Like many other parts of Kenya, the Eastern region holds immense promise for the yet-to-be-discovered.
