Central Province : Mount Kenya*

This province is home to the magnificent snowcapped Mount Kenya, from which the country takes its name. The mountain rises to a height of over 17,000ft – 5,188m – and sits astride the Equator.   While in central one can view the Aberdares, a spectacular mountain range in form feature which is dotted with waterfalls, a great variety of wildlife and rich vegetation. It also home to Kenya’s famed Arabica coffee. The range’s greatest claim to fame is as the place where Princess Elizabeth was holidaying when news of the death of King George VI came through and she left Kenya to become Queen Elizabeth II. She has been back a couple of times over the intervening half-century.
